He sounds so much like our Sheltie, Rose. She is wheezy and coughing in her old age. She has congestive heart failure and scarring in her lungs from allergies which were asymptomatic for many years. Fortunately she is currently getting by fine with 'puppy Benadryl' and aspirin. I hope Milo does not start feeling poorly too often from his wheezing.
Poor Rose. I lost my Dana to CHD. I had three good years with her after she was diagnosed. The medicine was so expensive. Of course I had just quit work and gone back to school. Thank goodness for charge cards and an indulgent husband. (-:
I'm going to call the vet on Monday and give her this link and see what she thinks. I think she said something about his trachea, but it was all Greek to me. I was just glad that the xrays didn't show anything scary since he had fungal pneumonia when we first got him.
Oh that poor little guy. I know for sure cats can have asthma, because my little Gimpy was diagnosed with that after much back and forth to the vet and finally films sent to a "feline pulmonologist" at Univ of Tenn vet school....
Gimp usually didn't have trouble unless he was very active or got stressed or scared. A bath would bring it on big time...or new people at the house.
When he first showed up on our doorstep eleven years ago, he had fungal pneumonia. I was half afraid that this was something to do with that. Lung xrays showed nothing irregular, and his heart sounded fine. Old age is just starting to take it's toll. She said something about a swollen larynx (or something to that effect), I just heard that it was nothing serious and that was all I needed to know.
I took him to the vet a few weeks ago and they took xrays and checked him out from head to toe, and couldn't find anything wrong. The vet had a tech run Milo around in the yard trying to make him do that and he never did. I told her I had a video of him wheezing and I would post it, and the very same day my computer crashed. I finally came across it. He's been fine since. She said it could be something with his larynx. Knowing that the xrays were clear and his heart and lungs were fine was a huge relief. She said it's probably nothing to worry about. He's 13. Things are going to start to fall apart, poor guy.
Poor guy. I recall when our dog got old, she made a lot of gasping and gagging noises. Good thing you had him checked out. How do you think he'd do with another dog?

I once knew a dog that had collapsible trachea and one that had sinus trouble and they both sounded like Milo.
