Supporting Shelter: St. Tammany Humane Society

Pros: too many to list

Cons: she doesn't like the name "Betty"

I think that Dr. Johnston at the St. Tammany Humane Society totally rocks the proverbial dog house. Not only does she treat my animals, but she speaks to them in some strange dog language that I can't understand. People think she is strange for doing this, but I do not. She also has a deep love for raccoons, and feeds them on her front porch in tiny canisters that only they can open. But I digress....
The REAL question here is: WHY is Dr. Johnston a good vet??? WHY does she deserve 5 stars? That, my friend, is the question at hand. Do you know of any other vet who would drive 500 miles to do an emergency neuter? Another vet who would run bare headed in torrential rain to rescue a squirrel from a faulty bird feeder? Another vet who would foster 7 geriatric chihuahuas and 2 baby armadillos to nurse them back to health? ANY other vet who would aid in a neighbor's acquisition of a rare and valuable French canine named Jacques - for mere reasons of fate and destiny??
Maybe Dr. Johnston was the perpetrator of these acts and maybe she wasn't. But she still deserves 5 stars!

I agree that Dr Johnston is special. She was very understanding, caring, and tried to help me as much as anyone could have done when she had to put my Maggie down because of cancer. When I knew the end was coming I called my usual vet, a mobile vet, and the St. Tammany Humane Society which I knew nothing about to ask about fees and procedure for cremation etc. I decided to use the St. Tammany because the fee goes back to help other animals. God must have been directing me because Maggie and I knew we were at the right place when the time came. Thank you Dr. Johnston and the St Tammany Humane Society.
