I like them!
Pros: Offers services to city residents, many lower income, makes client aware of costs of more extensive treatments
Cons: Basic services available, they will refer you to specialists

I have been going to Jefferson Animal Hospital since 1975. The vets are caring, as well as the staff. They are open with you about treatment, side effects, costs. They admit that they do not treat complicated cases. Great place for basic services, shots, heartworm, spay and neuter services. Reasonable prices. They let clients purchase flea treatments and heartworm medicine by individual doses. I have had 9 different dogs treated by them,( I have always had at least 1 dog and as many as 4, we currently have 4) the shortest lived dog was 7 years, the longest 13 years. They referred me 3 different times to other vets when there was cancer treatment involved or extensive eye surgery. For the eye surgery I went to the Webster Groves vet clinic and Webster Groves referred me on to the area specialist. Other emergency treatments were performed at the Emergency Clinic at 44 and Big Bend, these of course happened during other than normal vet hours.
I like how the young woman vet gets down on the floor with the dogs, especially the bigger ones. The older guys don't get down on the floor, but then neither do I.
If you are looking for a cost effective, no frills vet, to provided your dog with "well-dog" check ups, shots, spay, neutering, other basic vet treatments, this is the place.
