Pros: Empathy, knowledge; open 365/24/7
Cons: could get costly
I had to bring in my cat, Mrs. Palmer, for a cardio consultation. I was terribly frightened and worried. The reception area was neat and everyone was very polite. The wait was miniscule.
Dr. Linda Lehmkuhl was a brilliant and extremely personable delight. She made a point of immediately establishing rapport with both me and Mrs. Palmer. She praised Mrs. Palmer's cuteness and intelligence which went down with me like a nice warm beverage on a freezing day. She then went on to explain all of the tests that they would conduct.
The way she held my cat and talked to her was very reassuring.
When all was over, the cat's condition proved to be far less serious than I had feared. Dr. Lehmkuhl reviewed all of the findings with me. She explains things very well but without taking short-cuts or trying to "talk down" to the non-medically trained person.
I would go to MedVet again and indeed feel extremely reassured that my cat will do well.
I learned another new thing from them: a cat's retina can give a fairly precise idea of the cat's age. Their opthamologist checked on Mrs. Palmer's chronological age, which I had not previously known.
MedVet is PROBABLY only for emergencies and for specialists and consultations, but it's a truly fantastic place and I am so glad that I have found another vet I can trust.
