I am just gonna say it, I hate this place and would NEVER, EVER suggest anyone who cares about their pet take them there. I would drive 50 miles out of my way to not go there if needed. The service at this place is so poor, I don't even know where to begin. I had a cat with a history of Struvite crystals..anyone familiar with this condition knows your pet can block and die within a matter of hours. Figaro was not displaying any of his usual signs that he was having a blockage issue, ( he would start peeing on blankets/ bedding as if to say hey, Im having a problem!! ) until one night in April he started howling and falling over on his side. I have never seen him like this before and my regular vet was just closing up. They told me to either go to Main Street Animal ER, or to Grand Island. I have never been to Grand Island Vet, but it was closer then Main street, so thats where we went. I knew we were in trouble when as soon as we got there, the vet looked at him, said he was totally blocked, his bladder was the size of a grapefruit and that since this was emergency hours time, it was going to be expensive ( like I needed that to be pointed out ) What crappy pet-side manner! The kicker was the cost. Oh My God, I almost died when they told me it was gonna cost over $1100 dollars! YES, thats over one THOUSAND dollars. I know it was an emergency visit, we have had them before, but all they needed to really do at this point was drain his bladder to get him thru the night and then I could take him to our vet first thing the next morning. They were insisting he needed to have all these other tests and things that were totally irrelevant and then started telling me that they have a credit card payment plan. Look, Im not rich, and that much money is more then my house payment. and since I am a stay at home mom, I dont have any income. I would have been denied anyway.I was really disturbed at the fact that they wanted to run all these additional tests...the vet already said he was blocked, so what the hell are we doing more tests now, during an EMERGENCY visit? I was getting no where fast with these rude people. I ended up taking my cat and leaving. All this, of course, after I was charged $75. I was heartbroken. My cat was dying and this vet was trying to make a quick buck when I was at an emotionally trying time. My cat suffered the whole night. There was nothing I could do, I didnt have any money, so I took my boy home. I stayed up with him all night and tried to make him as comfortable as I could. I took him to my vet the next morning where we ended up putting him down. It was the worst experience of my life. I blame myself for not going to Main Street. I blame the vet for being a greedy son of a bitch. I blame the vet tech for not trying to just do the right thing and give him the damn cathater. I feel guilty. My boy died because I didnt have any money., and because I made a fatal mistake by going to Grand Island. I would not take my worst enemies pet to this place. They are the most uncaring, selfish, greedy vets hospital I have ever been to. DO NOT GO THERE, you'll be sorry you did!
