In January my daughter had to make the worst decision a horse owner ever has to make. She had to put down her 2 year old colt after a bad run in with a t post.

He had been under the care of another animal hospital and was transferred to Ellensburg Animal Hospital. The attending Dr. was caught up in the care of other animals. We could not allow that animal to suffer one more minute. THe other Dr. ran some test that told us the poor equine was not going to make it.

It was winter and Dr. Whitlatch knew we had some issues to cover regarding burial. He let us take our boy to the horse trailer and then he put him down there so we could tranport him to a burial site. It was a bit of a risky situation but Dr. Whitlatch knew what this colt meant to my daughter and really helped ease a stressful situation. His very gentle Dr. words were comforting. "You did the right thing for this horse" Hearing those words made us feel better that we had done the right thing. At that moment very few words could help a 15 year old feel better.

We appreciate so much his gentleness and willingness to do what we needed done. The absence of that colt still stings each time we look to the pasture but the service and help we got from EAH was just exceptional.

I just thought I would express our appreciation for Larry's knowledge and thoughtfulness. When it is time to put one of our beloved pets down he agreed to use a preop shot to put them into a state of sleep first before uthanizing them. This has been especially helpful with the horses. I can't tell you how many ranch call he's had to make here to patch something up.
