Scheenstra Debra DVM

I only have one experience with Dr. Scheenstra. Sade, my kitty of 14 years was dying of lymphoma and it was time to put her to sleep. It was a very distressful time for me as my mother had died a few months earlier. My cat's vet didn't do home euthanasias and I didn't want her last minutes on this earth to be spent in a car and then in a foreign office. I wanted her last moments to be at home with me.

A friend found Dr. Scheenstra and I'm so glad she did. She came to my house, talked to me for a while and then euthanized my loyal friend. I was very emotional and Dr. Scheenstra stayed until I had calmed down.

A few weeks passed and I received a card in the mail from Dr. Scheenstra along with the poem Rainbow Ridge. The poem is about reuniting with beloved pets in another life.

It was very thoughtful of her to take such care and compassion. She eased my pain and I know that she offered as much comfort as she could for my sweet Sade in her last moments.

Cons: don't have any

Our family used this vet for a number of years and regretfully have had bad experiences the last two times. We feel that she wasn't sensitive to our pet's needs and our family's difficulties with affording more care. Perhaps she will mature into this area in the future, but we couldn't afford to risk our pet's care anymore.
