Saved my dog's life!

posted 6 years ago

When my 5 month old English bulldog, who my family & I had already become very attached to started having trouble walking, we didn't know what to do. The night before we left for our summer vacation to Disneyland we noticed that it wasn't that he was just clumsy or a puppy, something was really wrong w/his walking, in the preceding days it had become increasingly apparent and although he didn't appear to be in any pain, he could barely stand w/his back 2 legs. We took him to the emergency vet and they determined it was neurological. We were referred to one of the ONLY neurovets in town. We couldn't disappoint our kids & decided to go on our pre-paid vacation anyway. As you can imagine, it was hard for us to enjoy ourselves w/the worry on our minds but the Neuro center really helped. My sister took our puppy in for an appointment with them and they called us on our cell phones, faxed docs to our hotel, etc. They even managed to inform us of our finance options and we applied for Care Credit while out on vacation. We were approved and once we were home we had an appt for our puppy's spinal surgery. He had malformed vertebrae that hadn't fused correctly & were putting pressure on his spinal cord. Dr. Plummer explained all of the options and scenarios to us with utmost professionalism & compassion. We opted to go for it, otherwise our puppy's quality of life would just decline. The surgery was a success! It's been over 1 year since the surgery and by looking at our dog, you'd never imagine he had a major spinal surgery. He went from hardly being able to stand to running, jumping (very high), etc. Almost like nothing was every wrong w/him at all & for an English Bulldog- suprisingly agile! We owe Dr. Plummer & his vet staff @ the Neuro Center a million thanks. NO words will every suffice. Our dog, Diesel is a miracle to us- thanks to you.

Pros: Experts in canine & feline neurology & neurosurgery

Cons: expensive
