Avian care

posted 4 years ago

We made boarded our parrot there once. At the time it seemed fine. The price was resonable and they really seemed to care about our parrot. We asked for her wings and nails to be clipped and they asked if I wanted her beak shaped. I was impressed that Dr. Debbie could do this because before we had to go to Chesterfield, MO for this service (2 hours away). When we returned from our trip and picked our parrot up and got home her wings were a mess, all the flight feathers were cut unevenly. Her nails looked exactly the same as they did when we I dropped her off, and her beak looked like it hadn't been touched. I called and asked then if the did her nails and beak. They said that they had, but I couldn't tell it. I attempted to straighten out her wings the best I could, and I clipped her nails. There was no comparing the the wing, nails and beak triming we were used to from our avian vet in Chesterfield with what they say they did at My Zoo.
Because it was handy, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt, we attempted to board our parrot there a second time. The rates for boarding went up a again after i made the reservation and was qouted the lower price; that they did not honor. We chose to go to Horton Animal Hospital-Northeast, instead.
We will not be returning to MyZoo anytime in the future.

Pros: provider of avian services

Cons: Raised the price of boarding twice in a year. Poor job clipping wings, and nails, and beak shapping

We love Dr. Debbie!!

posted 5 years ago

I first meet Dr. Debbie to get a second opinion for our dog. Dr. Debbie reviewed all tests and advised us he had spleen cancer. In great detail she explained his cancer and ALL of our options for treatment. His cancer was very advanced so we decided to make him comfortable. Every time I called with a problem Patty advised us to bring him in right away. We finally knew it was timeto put him down. Taking him to the office was possibly the worst experience in my life...but they made it bearable. Debbie explained in detail how the euthanasia drugs work and what he would feel. Then they allowed us as much time as we need to say good bye. Not once did I ever feel rushed that they may have needed that room.

So when we got our new dog...who was a very sick stray...we took him straight to her. She diagnosed him with heart worms and he spent a couple of days at My Zoo. Once again after our return home I called with "issues" they were always very willing to say try this or that. If it didn't work we always had the option to bring him right in. I am so grateful to Dr. Debbie and her staff for saving his life and giving our family this beautiful dobermann.

Pros: Great people, great service and great hours!!

Cons: Nothing!

I love Dr. Debbie!

posted 5 years ago

Dr. Debbie is very knowledgable in the field of Veterinary Medicine and she has been a vet for my last Weim and now for Bella and also fo my sisters Weims and friends' pets. Everyone loves her. She always has a smile for you and her staff are so helpful and friendly. I lost my first Weim after almost 12 years and it was REALLY hard but Dr. Debbie made it easier for me. Her staff were all very sympathetic and ready to hug me when I cried. Bella started out very sick in her first few months and Dr. Debbie was always available to meet me when I needed her and did everything she could to make help my puppy get better. Bella loves the staff there and they always give her treats and greet her like she is their own. Thank you for being so wonderful!!

Pros: Knowledgeble, friendly, sympathetic, available all the time

Cons: None

Dr. Debbie is the best!

posted 5 years ago

Dr. Debbie and her staff at My Zoo are awesome! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I appreciate Dr. Debbie's no-nonsense approach -- she won't recommend a lot of expensive tests or procedures if she doesn't think you need them up front. You can call any time with questions, and she takes the time to talk to you. As a first-time dog owner, I was very anxious, but Dr. Debbie's calm demeanor and approachability is so reassuring.

Pros: Friendly, convenient, affordable

Cons: Nothing!

Love My Zoo

posted 5 years ago

We actually just got back from picking up my sick puppy Dakota from My Zoo. We had taken her in to see Dr Deb, when she was throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. Dr Deb prescribed some meds for her, but she was still throwing up. They requested right away to have her brought in for test, and to start a IV. After 24 hours, my puppy is feeling better, and able to keep her dinner down. Thank to Dr Deb and her staff I felt safe knowing that Dakota was being taken care of. The My Zoo staff will also call every day for the next week to check up on her. We have never had this happen before with other vets. The best thing is that Dr Deb doesn't upcharge alot of her services, so it makes pet care very affordable.

Pros: Late hours, and very friendly staff

Cons: Don't have any
