When we moved to St. Charles, our new landlord recommended this vet to us. At that time, they were not owned by VCA as they are now. Before the new ownership, we were very happy with this vet. They were a little pricey, but when you look at everything they do, it would be much more than that at other vets. The problems started arising when VCA took over.

Our cat was over 6 years old when we started going there. Recently, she got sick, and that's when we discovered the new changes that had happened. It became very evident that VCA cared more about making money than about caring for the pet and the customer. Our cat had multiple tests done, and to this day they still have no idea what was wrong with her. At one point, they just started guessing and prescribing expensive medicines. A week after all this happened, she was due for her annual shots. Even though they had seen her a week before and done all the bloodwork tests and whatnot, they required us to pay for another full exam. On top of that, they decided to change her regular exam to a "Senior Wellness" exam without ever telling us. This added about $60 to the bill. They never asked us if we wanted to do this, nor did they tell us what it entailed. They told us that they were required to do this exam on cats over 6 years of age. Well, we've been taking her there for 4 years, so why did they never have this requirement before, because she was always over 6 years old when she went there! The icing on the cake was when they called us a week later with her bloodwork results and informed us that they forgot to do one of the tests in the senior exam that we payed for, and wanted us to bring the cat BACK out there to complete it. For an elderly cat, that is a LOT of stressful trips to the vet, and we weren't willing to drive her back out there. And guess what: they weren't willing to give us a refund for the test.

We just moved again, to O'Fallon this time, and even though were are now very close to this vet, we will be going somewhere else. Too bad the best doctor there (Dr. Balke) went elsewhere...I guess he didn't like the changes that were happening, either!

Pros: All vets are great, and exam is very thorough

Cons: Bad business practices: they take all the money they can from you.

My family has been going to Cloud as long as they have been open in O'Fallon, MO. Dr.Bruins, Dr.Cloud and Dr.Balky are outstanding vets! Didn't matter if I had a foster animal, stray or my own family pets, the sevice was outstanding. The technitians are friendly and helpful and always make sure your concerns are reported to the doctors. THank you for setting a very high standard in the area.
