Sorry to say it but my experience was awful
posted 2 years ago
I recently went to the vca because my dog was acting weird, shaking, vomiting, diarrhea. It was only 9:00 and they charged us for emergency hours 40.00 plus the emergency exam at 85.25 and they wanted to do a test for worms which is 60.75 and they expressed her anal sacks(which didn't need to be done) they charged another 38.90. We left paying 224.90 and not even finding out what was wrong with her. Now her head is wobbling and she can't go to the bathroom. We just called and they said they would want another exam done by another doctor which would still be 85.25 and they want to do some blood tests. The vet that was there wasn't a full time vet he only comes in every few months(I think that's ridiculous) He never said what was wrong just stupid tests to see if she could walk. Then he had to ask the other vet trainees to see if she could be having seizures(she's only two) he said she was too young to have a seizure. The doctor I just called at another animal hospital said that she needs to be brought in for blood work and that she might have low blood sugar(the "doctor" at vca said that she was too healthy for that) The "doctor" at the vca that assisted us had no clear diagnosis he kept saying um let me go check with the other vets. He never gave us an option on what to do next just "drop off the stool tomorrow" that was really it. If i could I would give the vca a fourth of a star. Yeah the people at the front desk were nice but the vet seemed like he had no training(the other full time vet that wasn't there at the time because she was doing a surgery said that this is why he was fired and only comes in a couple times saying he was only a volunteer) I can't believe that I just paid over 200 dollars without a diagnosis, I have absolutely no information about whats wrong with her. The wait time was extremely long, I was stuck holding my sick baby in my arms for nothing. I hope this review makes you think twice about choosing the berwyn vca as your vet(be sure to ask that the vet is a full time vet and not a volunteer) sorry I don't have his name. I am now going to visit another animal hospital to actually get my dog help. Thank you for your time on reading this review.
Pros: Friendly staff at the front desk
Cons: Long waiting hours, Vet wasn't very professional, vet was a volunteer, Emergency hours were pricey for not receiving any help

24 hr service
posted 5 years ago
This animal hospital has been around for a long time and it is a full-service place. There is 24 hr emergency service with a vet on the premises. Dr. Turner is a well-respected surgeon. My family and I have used this vet for years for everything from hamsters to dogs and cats.
Pros: Lots of vets, good surgeon, specialists available, 24 hr service
Cons: Vets often do not stay too long
