Excellent vets saved my dog
posted 3 years ago
My dog dveloped an eye infection that turned out to be a sort of tumor. Dr Miller was very good and I was impressed with the surgery and my dogs recovery. He seems to really like big dogs and my dog liked him too. The staff was very good as well. The exam rooms and the room in back could have been cleaner.
Pros: Great vets for dogs, convenient hours
Cons: could be a little cleaner

Arlington is a NO!
posted 4 years ago
A few months ago, my dog had a tumor pop up on the inside of her back leg. Naturally, I was worried sick! We were in between vets at the time and several friends recommended Arlington.
First of all, our consultation was with one doctor, a different doctor performed her surgery, then when we went back for her check up, the first consult doctor was the person we saw...THIS MAKES FOR HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION. But I digress, we dropped her off for surgery in the morning and went to visit her that evening after surgery. I was shocked to see that WITHOUT MY PERMISSION they had performed a hernia removal surgery. Now don't get me wrong, had we discussed this option at our initial visit, I surely would have agreed that this was the right time to remove it. However, I felt very unsure of my decision to take her to Arlington after they added another surgery without calling and without my consent. This was not about the money, it was about trusting the vet to make the right decision. That evening, when I asked if the vet was in, I was told "No, you cannot speak with him." So we left and decided we would just discuss it the following morning. When we came back, I asked the receptionist why the extra surgery was performed without my permission. She immediately said "I'll just credit your account for the amount of the surgery, plus $50.00." I was confused. Why would she be so eager to credit me $100?? And without even discussing it with the docs?
It was when we came back for her checkup that we discovered the tumor had never been tested. Why? When I asked the doctor, he said "Because of the situation with the hernia, we assumed you wouldn't want to pay any more to have it tested." Naturally, I asked "What hernia situation??" According to the doctor, his receptionist had concocted a bizarre story about how we had refused to pay for the service...I'll spare you the rest of the details, as they are absolutely ridiculous. To his credit, after explaining what had really happened, he was quite apologetic. However, that does not negate the fact that we lost that opportunity to test the tumor. It was a horrible experience. Overall, I would say that Arlington is probably great for vaccinations or for anything that does NOT require an overnight stay or surgery. In other words, if it's serious, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. She just recently had another tumor show up out of nowhere. Unfortunately, we had to take her back to Arlington. The surgery went fine I suppose, but my dog (who gets baths on the regular and IS NOT A STINKER by nature) came home reeking of urine. We are still awaiting the test results, but regardless of the outcome are seeking a clean and caring vet that we feel comfortable with.
Pros: WALK IN HOURS
Cons: unclean facilities, long waits
