Northwood Veterinary Hospital

Our 2 1/2 year old great dane, Nelson, developed a hip problem, seemingly overnight. After several failed attempts at diagnosing the problem we were referred to a specialist. Our options were Purdue or Northwood. My first choice, Purdue, was close to home and I know they are very reputable as well. However, they could not get poor Nelson, who was in horrible pain, in for two weeks from the date of the call.

I called Northwood and was able to get Nelson in the next day. We drove Nelson there and within an hour Dr. Lee diagnosed the problem. He gave us our choices as to treatment; full hip removal at Ohio State, Femoral Head Removal, (euthanizing as the last option... which we did not choose, obviously). Opted for the femoral head removal surgery that Dr. Lee could perform that day.

After surgery was completed we were called with an update and told to call them anytime during the night to check on him, as they are staffed 24 hours a day. I was very impressed by this. Someone would always be there with the animals.

We were able to take Nelson home the day after surgery. I would recommend Dr. Lee to anyone who has an injured animal who needs surgery.

Pros: Great Ortho Dr., Great Service (24 hour staffing), reasonably priced

Cons: Hour and half away from home

Super good place to take an injured or sick animal when your regular vet may not be available. And I'm sure they give the same great service to their regularly scheduled patients as well.

Pros: 24 hour emergency vets!

Cons: A little pricey but it is 24 hour service.
