Very caring Vet

posted 7 years ago

I have been vetting at VCA Mill Run for a couple years now. Usually I see Dr. Horne since we usually talk shelter stuff to since she comes to the HSMC to help with the animals. Or I see Dr. Beckett who also likes to talk shelter with me.

My first time I had Dr. Lenhart take care of one of my pets was the horrible day of my life. Harlem had been breathing weird and I called VCA Mill Run. Dr. Lenhart was on duty. After he examed Harlem and did x-rays, he took me to the back to see the x-rays still on the machine. Harlem's lungs were full of cancer. He was so kind in explaining in words and terms that I would understand while I was trying not to cry.

Dr. Lenhart took me and Harlem back to our exam room and explained options which at the point in the cancer, there was none. He gave me meds to help keep Harlem comfortable. But in truth, he was trying hard to keep me at the clinic so I was not driving home too upset to not drive well. He made me promise to call the clinic as soon as I was home because he was really worried about me.

I made it to the parking lot and called my husband who in turn could not understand a word I said. He called and talked to Dr. Lenhart. And Dr. told George I was very upset and he wanted to make sure I could get home okay. George met me at home and called VCA and told Dr. Lenhart we were home.

Harlem passed away 2 weeks later. Dr. Lenhart was wonderful to me and to Harlem in our time of need.

If you are looking for a wonderful, caring vet, Dr. Randy Lenhart is at the top of my list.

Pros: wonderful, speaks in terms I can understand even when I am upset

Cons: Not one

The beagle guy!

posted 7 years ago

I may be partial to Dr Randy as we have something amazing in common, a love of beagles. I first met him as a vet tech at the Sawmill location and remember him spending time with my now 7 year old beagle mix when she was just a pup. I was excited that he continued with the practice upon graduation and have used him ever since. He also sees some pups of some friends. He is so very compassionate and provides a calmness that eminates and calms everyone in the room. What great dog-side manners! He is so very knowledgable and a great resource in a team of professionals at his clinic.

Pros: Calm demeanor, thorough, loves beagles

Cons: None
