Do NOT recommend Dr. Shockey for C-sections!!
posted 4 years ago
Took my female mastiff in for a c-section with Dr. Shockey. 4 days after surgery the suture opened up and tissue came falling out. She had to be put back under anesthesia and reclosed. I was told by Dr. Shockey that her tissue falling out of her suture was common with these big dogs. As well as she had a slight infection starting and she was put on another antibotic. Approx. a week later she was rushed to the emergency vet because it was a Sunday. Here is exactly what the emergency vet (Dr. Giancola) faxed over to Dr. Shockey:
"Alani is a 2 yr old mastiff who is present 9 days after a C-section. The suture site opened up and needed reclosed 4 days after surgery At the time, the veterinarian mentioned the possibility of infection at that time. She is now vomiting, 4 times today, and once more in the treatment area. She is also lethargic. She has a serious discharge from her suture line, about a drop every 5 seconds. Pink, serious discharge from the suture line. The skin is not adhered together, no evidence of healing. No odor."
My mastiff ended up having to stay overnight at the emergency vet and then I had to go home and bottle feed puppies. First thing the next morning we had yet another revisit with Dr. Shockey. Once again he seemed unconcerned acting if this was common. So yet again another vet bill we were sent home with gentocine injections as well as an IV in her leg were I had to give her 2 bags of fluid per day.
Here it is 5wks later and yet again the infection is back cause apparenty it has not gone away! Took her to ANOTHER vet this time were I was told she had a severe infection in her gut with her having a temp of 106 and she was lucky to be alive! She has lost 20lbs. and was told until her infection completely goes away she will not gain any weight...all because of this jacked up c-section that Dr. Shockey performed. I feel all his could of been avoided if Dr. Shockey would of flushed her uterus out correctly after the C-section and sutured her up correctly!!
VET BILLS TO DATE: $1,300
Cons: Jacked Up C-sections

I love this Place

I used to work in a Veterinary office. I have never felt at home anywhere but there. Until now. This is an amazing place. Great staff, sad that I have to say this but ANIMAL friendly. I could go on all day. If you live anywhere near this office go and check it out for yourself. I love this place and more importanly so did my MoJo.
Pros: Amazingly clean, talented staff, large open waiting room
Cons: I can't honestly think of one.
