Gentle Care Animal Hospital

WARNING TO DOG OWNERS. I recently took my dog Kato to the Gentle Care Animal Hospital in Forest, VA for his routine rabies and distemper shots. I advised the veterinarian that I had previously had a dog that had a serious reaction to shots. Sure enough, by late morning the next day after I returned home at lunch -- Kato was experiencing much pain, fever, uncontrollable shivering and stiffness, hardly able to lift his head. I feared for his life and immediately called the vet’s office -- and of course they were closed. Their phone directed me to the “gouge you Sat. emergency clinic” where they had to treat him for a serious reaction having to administer pain and anti-inflammatory shots and even give fluids under the skin. And of course -- the total treatment cost me 3 times what is should have.
Contacting the regular vet’s office on Monday –- unbelievably I was callously told by the office “Top Dog” that Kato should have somehow let me know he was suffering so I could have gotten him back to their office during office hours. (Perhaps I should have left him my cellphone….) While the regular staff are nice people, there was no indication of responsibility, fairness or compensation on management’s part. Obviously, I will never take my dog there again. BE WARNED.
