New York Veterinary Specialists is truly the "vet's vet," setting the gold standard for medical care.
August 10, 2010 5:31 pm | By Zootoo Editor Mary T.
Tucked away behind an assuming facade on Manhattan's West Side, the "vet's vets" of New York City are tackling some of the toughest, most difficult cases in veterinary medicine. Animals who come to the New York Veterinary Specialists are referred by more general pracitioners - either because of emergency or because of the complexity of their conditions.
The facility is spotless - in fact, on a recent visit I noted that the common areas and examination rooms were cleaner and more orderly than those that I have witnessed in Manhattan hospitals for humans! And the surgical equipment and technological advances employed by the dedicated, top-notch staff are peerless in the field.
If your pet should require a trip to New York Veterinary Specialists, rest assured that he is among the best veterinary hands in the city.
Pros: Spotless, state-of-the-art facilities operated by top-notch, dedicated doctors.
Cons: Not for everyday checkups, unfortunately—they only take the toughest cases.

I was referred to NYC Vet Specialsts by my general practitioner -- due to their state of the art facility, the professionals there were able to operate on my cat sweetie successfully and bring him back to his normal and happy world from the brink of despair. If you land here, you will be in good hands -- by the way, in addition, they have a facility in Queens County.
Pros: Professional on every level
Cons: I'm still thinking...

Total compassion at the saddest time
posted 2 years ago
When our littlest kitty suddenly took ill, we rushed her to NYC Veterinary Specialists in the middle of the night. Kind handling of both our cat and us over the next days will always be remembered. We are so grateful for their professionalism and advanced medical service at the end of her life. Having high-end equipment right there meant we got faster answers to what was happening so our little girl did not have to suffer. Complicated medical procedures and difficult options were carefully explained (and re-explained). We were kept well informed about her status by phone when we could not be at the hospital. Everyone was kind, efficient, and our wishes were respected and honored. I'd go no where else in NYC for emergency care.
Pros: Sophisticated care, experienced and kind doctors and staff
Cons: Not cheap, but worth every penny
