Pitts Pack Leading provides an excellent pet sitting service

posted 5 years ago

I called Josh on a Friday morning to ask on short notice if he could pet sit my dog by coming over to feed her and walk her once or twice a day. Thankfully, instead, he said he needed to meet her to see if she was a dog he could take care of. He promptly came to my house early in the morning because I asked him to because I wanted to leave for an out of town trip that morning. Immediately my dog took a liking to him. I could tell my dog liked him as she kept looking at him and wagging her tail a lot. Josh offers two kinds of pet sitting that I know of: he will either stay overnight at your house and also in addition to feeding/walking the dog several times a day, take in your mail, and be a source of security in your house as there is someone there while you are away and the house is n ot just empty, not to mention your pet gets constant attention because he is there with them. I ex pected him to either offer to come to my house to feed and walk her each day I was away, or stay overnight at my house, like his website services offered. I was so happy when he offered to take her into his care at his property. After meeting her he said she would fit in with his adult dog and a puppy he had too. I was grateful as my dog is very social and would benefit from the contact with other dogs as wellas from Josh's attention and exercising her. Then he called me each day to give me short updates as to how she was doing. I appreciated that, and then as it was going well, I called him and asked him to sit her one more night, and he agreed to this right on the s pot. He was very accommodating. He told me he had taken her on a group hike with other dogs and she had stayed right by his side off leash. I was surprised as I had never been able to get her to stay right by my side, off leash. I respected his ability to get her to do that. The greatest thing was when I got home I called him and he immediately brought her over to my house. He didnt make a big deal about me only calling him 1/2 an hour before I got back home, or telling me he was closed on the weekends, or anything. As soon as he arrived at my house, I was so happy to see my dog. She was so relaxed and calm I felt like I had sent her on vacation. She just appeared totally at ease and he said they had just had a 45 minute walk. I had some questions about training and he patiently stayed and answered them and was very kn owledgeable and thorough in his explanations. I knew I had made the right choice in letting her stay with him as he provided the attention and socialization with himself and other dogs that I knew my particular dog needed to reduce the stress caused by the change in my bneing away and her not being at home. He said she had slept with his other dogs at night. I would definitely call Josh to sit and train my dog again. Most of all, he seemed genuinely concerned and interested in my dog and used humane training and discipline methods with her as she has been mistreated in the past but she showed no hesitation in responding to his verbal and hand signals and was totally at ease with him. I am so grateful I found someone like Josh who is so knowledgeable and willing to accommodate an individual dog's needs like he did mine, and accommodate my schedule on such short notice. Other pet sitters are not always so accommodating. Josh's services were very valuable.

Pros: Josh provides appropriate exercise, structure and affection

Cons: None that I know of

Really helped my dog

posted 5 years ago

We turned to Pitts Pack Leading after we had tried just about everything (including another trainer) without getting great results. Kit, our dog, had fear issues and was hard to walk (lots of pulling and refusals) as well as barking at friends and strangers. Josh helped us learn loose leash walking, helped her accept strangers better, and through individual sessions and Outdoor Adventures group classes really turned Kit's life around. She's happier, we're happier, she's completely socialized with other dogs--it was kind of like an episode of the Dog Whisperer although the training methods were different (positive reinforcement, clicker training, etc.). Highly recommended!

Pros: Personal attention, great results, a world of behavioral difference in my dog

Cons: Had scheduling problems a couple times
