Could be allergy to bedding, or could be due to his diet. The only way to know for sure if he is ok is to get him checked out by a veterinarian. read more
we clean both cages twice a week and the hamsters still cause a really bad odor. being we have little kids in and out the house i would like to know how to get the smell to go away.

I thought hamsters were the only ones in my place who hoarded food. As it turns out, this morning I discovered that Cookie does it now. She's met two of my hamsters and spends a lot of time around the cages. She hides food under my bed in a little pile right at the center.
