A unique statute has allowed two out-of-state nonprofits to file a civil suit against three suspected horse abusers in North Carolina. "Whether it is right or wrong, a lot of counties don't have the money to pursue all animal cruelty cases," an U.S. Equine Rescue League spokeswoman said.

I am so happy to report that we managed to get all our horses vaccinations out of the way last week. It's not an easy task when you have 14 that need attention. At least one of my horses has special needs in that she NEEDS more training because we have to have a vet tranquilize her to do her feet and shots. We hope to work with her this summer. So, as an equestrian, I think everyone could argue that the harder you try to keep you horse out of trouble or looking good, the harder it is. How many of you have a pasture pony that you do nothing to and looks PERFECT, yet if you were to turn your show horse out in a pasture he would immediately look like a mouse?
