may be sparrows... look more like a goldfinch... i dont really know what kind of bird it is but they took over my feeders!! im not happy about it but dont know what to do... Read more

I suspect this time of year it is the female goldfinch you are seeing. If you have no no fiinch feeders, pick one up and fill it with Nyjer (thistle) and they will go for that instead read more

Ok I think my feeders need to be revamped. My squirrels keep coming in and knocking the feeder over. This is getting crazy! I am going to need I think to get one that hangs from a higher limb.. my baffle scoop does nothing to prevent the squirrels from swinging all over the feeder.. guess I need to out baffle those squirrels!!! read more

It is really cold here, and an ice storm is due in this afternoon. So, I checked the bird feeders. Would not be right to have ice everywhere and no food for our feather friends. Now there is plenty of thistle feed for the finches and regular bird food for everyone else - or they all can chow down with whatever they want. Just so they get enough nourishment in the worse-weather of times. read more
