All in all, it's a great shop, but I would not recommend the onsite Banfield Vet Office to be your regular vet due to a few experiences we had.
1) After moving to St Louis, we had our dog implanted with a 2nd microchip and registered with Banfield Pets Mart in Sunset Hills. On one of the trips to update his shots, we waited approx 45min in an examination room for the doctor. After no update from the receptionist, I finally popped out to see what was taking so long. She apologized for the wait and informed me that the doc was working frantically to save a couple of puppies who were very sick. I asked what they were sick with and whether or not it was contagious. The receptionist said they WERE highly contagious, but as long as my dog's shots were up to date, that there shouldn’t be a problem. As we were there to GET his shots up to date, and the receptionist had had my dog's records in front of her for the last 45 minutes, I asked her to check WHAT the other puppies were sick with and whether or not it was one of the diseases my dog possibly wasn’t protected from and GUESS WHAT? The puppies were indeed very ill with one of the diseases that my dog was coming in to be inoculated against! Could she not have put 2 and 2 together, looked at his records when we walked in the door and given us the choice as to whether we wanted him walking/lying on the same floor as 2 very contagious pups when he potentially had no resistance to their particular diseases? She was very nice and apologetic, but a little common sense would have been nice. We rescheduled and walked out the door.
2) AND EVEN MORE INEXCUSABLE.... Our dog did a runner and was lost for about 2 hours in Kirkwood. After scanning the neighborhood, calling the police and all of the neighboring animal shelters to no avail, I called Banfield Animal Hospital at the Sunset Hills Pets Mart where we had microchipped him to see if anyone had called to report finding him.
The staff were friendly, but said that no one had reported him found.
Unbeknownst to us, a ‘good Samaritan' had picked our dog up and was having a tough time trying to track us down. Most of the engraved Name and Address on his tag was too small for the them to read, but they did see the blue plastic "I'm Lost - Call Banfield Animal Hospital if you find me" tag that we also attached to his collar. When the finder called Banfield and told them that they had found a dog called Buster and described him, they were given an out of date mobile number that we had given a year previously when initially registering him. As the number was out of use, the finder ended up doing some of her own detective work with what she could make out on the dogs collar to finally find us, but it was with no help from Banfield at all.
My gripes with how Banfield handled the situation are as follows:
1) Banfield gave the person who found our dog only ONE telephone number to contact us on, when we had supplied several numbers and a home address.
2) Banfield made no attempt to get the name or contact details of the person who found our dog when on the phone with them.
3) Banfield did not contact us to tell us that someone had told them that they had found our dog.
4) After speaking to the person who found our dog, it turns out that they had called Banfield to report that they had found our dog at least an hour before I called Banfield and was told that no one had reported him found.... Hmmm???

So, someone tell me again why I attached the little blue tag to my dog's collar which read "I’m lost-Please call Banfield Animal Hospital."? They did bugger all to help our boy get home safe.

When I called Banfield the next day to talk them through how many ways they had let us down and not done their job properly, I was told that "there was a new girl on the desk that day and that they were very sorry".

SO....Although the shop's great, fun to visit with the dog and I applaud them for all of the adoption days they run, I can not recommend the Banfield vet office on site. As of last summer (this may have changed since), there was only 1 vet on duty at a time and it was obvious that she had too much on her plate.

Everyone at the Pets Mart, Sunset Hills Banfield Vet office we've met has been very nice, but their front desk (receptionists) lack of organization, common sense and general incompetence (in our experience, anyway) forced us to move to Kirkwood Animal Hospital (see review-short and sweet).

though it is sad that your dog was there the same time as the puppies. if they were your puppies you would of been mad if you weren't taken care of first. also, was your dog in direct contact. i noticed you never said your got sick. and you yourself stated the vet was understaffed, maybe she was wrong in given out the wrong phone number but than again if you gave them more numbers didn't you tell them to delete the one that they used. be glad that you dog was found by a honest person, safe at home, and had the blue dog tag on.
