Doesn't seem clean
Pros: none
Cons: sell live animals that are kept in cramped conditions, store always seems dirty and poorly lit

This store has always seemed dark and dirty to me, a bit like a cave. You can smell the animals as soon as you walk in. We used to buy fish here when I was growing up, but their other animals are kept in crowded conditions and sometimes are sick.

Some comments are written by people who work for other pet shops.DianesPet Center has been around since 1971. The owners are not in some other state, run by largecorp.com The only reason they are still there is because they love what they are doing, and they really care for the pets. They rent the building, they do not own it, landlords do not always take care of their buildings. So if the building is not fancy, that is not the pet shops fault. This is the store people come to when they need help. The store is clean and the pets are healthy. They know what they are talking about, and they don't lie just to make a sale
I use to work for this company and to this day it is the best store to go for so much information. Diane has run this business for 30+ years and does not sell anything to you unless you need it. A great store owner builds a relationship with you and helps you with the needs of your animals. She provides this. She can order anything you need and get it within a week! She keeps update with weekly and monthly readings and knows when certain items are on recall and lets her customers know. She is not out there for your money. She TRULY loves her animals and treats them like they are her own. You can not find a pet store like that these days!!!!
I also used to work at Diane's, and although I understand where the reviews are coming from, I do not think it is fair to judge the store unless you have been in my position. Like the comment above says, the landlord has a lot to do with the appearance of the store, and many things were not in our control. As for the "animal smell" yes, you can smell animals when you walk in, however this is a pet store that does sell animals, and just because they have a smell does not mean that they are not clean. The reptiles and small animals that we sold, were moving in and out of the store at all times, and it is very possible that the animals that you saw that looked "crowded" were just in a holding cage for a short period of time. And I was at Diane's for 4 years before leaving for school, and I can never remember a time when she would sell sick animals to a customer. And yes, it is possible for pets to become sick, but it happens to everyone. Whether it be a pet that has lived in a home for many years already, or a pet waiting to be sold. I know for a fact that Diane always took care of the problem immediately. I know this because she has asked me to personally care for a few of the animals in my own home so the other animals would not be affected.
