Great place to find food or pets.

posted 7 years ago

My wife has picked up several animals they have rescued from the death chambers of the pounds of the Central Valley of California. They drive several hundred miles once or more times per week to save animals from death. They sell the animals at a price that there is no possible way to make money. Pounds charge $60, he charges a bit more in order to pay for gas, fees and so on. The animals come with a certificate for a vet to look at the animal. They are either fixed or you can get them fixed for free. Josh knows everything... Great place...

Now, the animals come from the pound. Kennel Cough and other health issues can happen more often then a pet store. That is why they give you a certificate for the vet to look at the animal. All in all, it is a great place to get an animal, and the food and toys to keep it happy.

Pros: Great food and pets.

Cons: The animals are saved from the pound, with all that comes with that.

**WARNING** Newbury Park Feed and Pet Supply

posted 7 years ago

This pet store operates outside of county compliance. The owner, Joshua Pasewaldt, claims to rescue pets from a shelter in Bakersfield and resells the animals under the banner of "adoption". Several small animal clinics and well respected vets in Conejo Valley have indicated that the dogs he sells are very sick. His record keeping is shoddy. He either falsifies records to mask animals’ health history or “misplaces” the documentation altogether. His manner is rude and abrasive. When questioned about dogs’ backgrounds, he becomes very defensive. He behaves above the law. He has been under several injunctions to be shut down. He is a clever fellow and even gets write-ups in "The Acorn" to try and legitimize his operation. Pet owners and potential pet owners should not patronize his store or obtain animals from this shop. Dogs are kept in cramped and dirty cages. They come away with mange and other illnesses. His shop is just a "puppy mill" laundering store. Buyer beware. Pet owners should be wary of this place.

Pros: none

Cons: Shady methods, very poor customer service, questionable ethics

All of my animals, even the rats, have gone to Midtown and they've done a great job. I feel like they really care about my little guys and aren't just in a hurry to get them "in and out" as with some… more ›
