Petland

This Store is abusing parrots and birds. On 9/7/08 the following was noticed and reported to Anti-Cruelty Society.

At least 5 parakeets had blood on them, plucked their blood feathers. Many more were very sickly. Most in very, very bad condition.
A Blue Quaker was squawking in pain and stress. It plucked all tail feathers. Other feathers were plucked as if it was attacked by the other birds.
Mixed bird species are in same containers that are too small for even one bird.
All the birds are in very bad condition. They are in the wrong size containers/cages. Mixed species in the same cage are fighting with each other.
The birds are in extreme stress.
Customers are taking birds out of the cages, handling them improperly then putting them back. This spreads disease and adds more stress to the birds.

Store seems pretty clean..the products they sell are really high compared to other pet stores. The animals like the dogs and cats look healthy but being in those kennels they keep then in doesnt look very comfortable. Doesnt seem like theres much ventilation either. As far as the small animals and the fish, they look pretty good and well ventilated cages. But the ferrets they have locked up which looks like its plexi glass around them with air holes. They need something like petco has. Glass all around and all ventilation on top, it seems they would get more air that way. If you go to petland you'll see what im talking about.
