Holistic products with few additives and fillers found here

posted 5 years ago

This business has two locations: the one on 13th Ave. is a newer building that also has about 4-6 kennels for either boarding cats or houses cats available for adoption. When I visited, there was a big, intact black male cat available for adoption and two very large calicos available for adoption. There is also a buff/orange and white, long haired Persian cross cat, Larry, who is the resident store cat. He just lies around in the sun and soaks up pets. He will barely open his eyes when you pet him, unless scratching under his chin. Then he will give you a look and some purrs.

The majority of the store has natural dog food and dog products like leashes and collars, natural health products, and toys, but there are also cat products available. There is a more unusual and quirky selection of cat toys and dog toys that can't be found in other area stores, including handmade dog clothes, handmade dog toys, and some handmade cat toys. It is fun just to browse and look at the toys available. The owner is affiliated with 4 Luv of Dog rescue group, I believe.

There is a second store with the same name located on S. Unviersity and that location has a dog groomer's and dog boarding available, but I may be thinking of a new groomer's called Waggy Tails that is near the other store called The Natural Pet Center. Both of these businesses are on S. University Ave.

Pros: Also board and adopt out cats that they get from area pounds.

Cons: Pricier than other places, but if you want/need organic, then you're willing to pay for it.

Nice Store

posted 6 years ago

I found this store when I got my first dog a couple of years ago and wanted to buy food without all the fillers and byproducts in it. Michelle really knows her stuff, and gave me alot of different sample to try until I found one that worked for Tobys sensitive stomache (he has allergies too). Michelle has always been great at taking time to explain the differences in the products and never rushes through things...great to find a store where the owner cares about the customers concerns and takes the time to address them personally...much better than the bigger stores where you wonder around aimlessly trying to decypher the lables alone.

Pros: Family Owned, Knowlegable staff, Good Selection

Cons: none

Helpful and knowledgeable staff

posted 5 years ago

I called the staff at this store several times with specific questions relating to sick pets and was always given lots of help and advice. I bought food and suppliments for sick cats here and always felt that the staff present at the time would spend time with me answering any questions I had about the products available and how they would help. I also took a baby squirrel I found to them and they bottle raised it, which was such a relief because I had no idea what to do with it or how to care for it, so it was great to find people with experience and the proper supplies and equipment.

Pros: Very helpful staff

Cons: expensive

The only place to go!

posted 5 years ago

The Natural Pet Center is hands-down the best place in Fargo/Moorhead to go for your dog or cat's dietary needs, and it's a great place to go for other supplies as well. You can tell this local business really cares about what they do. The products sold here are all high-quality.. they don't carry the likes of Ol' Roy. In addition to the benefits of it being a local business, the food here is actually cheaper than the same brands are at other pet supply stores. It's win-win. They also do cat adoptions right out of the store.

Pros: Great prices on food, only high-quality products, you can bring your pet in to shop with you

Cons: Currently only carry dog and cat products.

We found our Binky at The Natural Pet Center

posted 5 years ago

We adopted our first cat Binky from the Natural Pet Center in 1998. They were very organized and had a concise file of each pet. They strongly encourage spaying or neutering your pet and even offered an incentive. If you return to them with the documentation that you had your pet spayed/neutered, they refunded $20 of your adoption fee. The day we adopted Binky, they also gave us a bag of good quality kitten food to start him out right and he had his initial shots.
They were very friendly and it was a nice bright place to visit.

Pros: They offer pet adoption

Cons: None that I can think of
