Four Preppy Paws offers limited but high-quality selection.

August 24, 2010 6:28 pm | By Zootoo Editor Mary T.

Tucked into a picturesque storefront on Charles Street, the boutique Four Preppy Paws offers an impressive selection of high-quality foods and products for dogs. Although the inventory is limited by the small square footage of the store, each accessory has been selected with a tasteful eye, and each treat selected for healthy, natural ingredients.

Four Preppy Paws features trusted brands such as Merrick, Dr. Harvey’s, and Wellness, as well as an adorable “snack shack” at the back of the store. And what Beantown store would be complete without specialty Red Sox dog treats? For the four-legged members of Red Sox Nation, this store does not disappoint.

Because Four Preppy Paws also creates their own collars — for sale on their website at for those outside of the city — their selection of collars and leashes is outstanding. The store also offers selected items for dog lovers, such as mats, pillows, prints, and greeting cards.

Cat owners may feel underrepresented by the store’s offerings, but this is a minor drawback for an otherwise wonderful shopping experience.

Pros: Excellent selection of inventory, especially for high-quality dog food lines. The store's own line of collars and leashes is charming.

Cons: Cat owners may feel left out from the wonderful product selection.

For very spoiled dogs

good small store tucked in charles st. They have treats from polka dog for people who don't want to leave beacon hill, and a lot of toy variety. It's hard to find because it's on the second floor, but worth a stop in.

Pros: good location

Cons: small
