Bicillin Works!

Pros: works on abcesses
Cons: injectible
WE HAVE USED THIS ON SEVERAL FOSTER BUNNIES WITH ABSCESSES. We get it either from the vet or TSC's cooler case and it is most often sold under the name ComboPen. It is very inexpensive as are the needles and syringes at TSC. This must be given as an injectible and not orally. It is much faster and more effective than oral antibiotics which can be overused and ineffective.
Our vet prefers to try a course of Bicillin before any surgery to remove an abscess. For those not familiar with rabbit abscesses, they cannot be lanced and drained like an abscess in a cat.
