Not good for chinchillas or other "gnawers"

Most sites advertise this particular cage for chinchillas, rabbits and ferrets. The shelves, all attachments, pan and the clips to hold the pan to the base are all made of plastic which if ingested can harm / kill animals if it gets lodged in their digestion organs. We thought by replacing the shelves and ladders etc with untreated wood that we would solve the issue. My chin has plenty of toys to play with yet still chewed a hole in the base pan big enough to escape from while we were asleep. We also found our chin was kind enough -.- to chew the clips off as well so the base is no longer attached in anyway to the cage itself.
Go with all metal cages instead...if you have a metal chewer, I'm sorry, that really sucks and good luck keeping it in anything.

We spent over $100 for this cage to last us 1 month...
