Supporting Shelter: Olympic Peninsula Humane Society
Pros: IF EVER ANYONE HAD TRUE NEED OF A NEW BUILDING IT'S THIS PLACE.
Cons: NONE THEY MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
Having moved to this area of washington from california, I feel this area is way behind in animal husbandry. This poor little Shelter is a depressing
OLD TINY dungeon- The Crew Have Done Wonders
Keeping It 'Spruced Up' and Clean.
KITTEN TIME HERE IS A NIGHTMARE.
People up here think dropping off a litter of cats at
the Humane Society is birth control.
There isn't the room for the kittens & cats, and the local and County support of the Humane Society is probably only 1/4 of what it should be-
if that.
There is a well-run & privately funded cat rescue up
here (PFOA) that does well and I would definitely say THE HUMANE SOCIETY HAS A VERY REAL NEED OF SUPPORT.
In fact, were I the 'CEO' at PFOA I would consider
entering this contest to be in poor taste...the local
Humane Society is swimming upstream and a new
building is probably the most pressing of thier needs.
We all understand the effects of overcrowding...
cat season is a pretty bad time contagion wise.
There isn't the luxury of room...the stress is not
just for the animals but the crew as well.
In addition to having to see animals given up for adoption or just abandoned they are working with insufficient space and out-dated fixtures and housing...all this in addition to having very little financial support from the county. Animal Control has been given over to the Sheriff's office.
If ever there was TRUE NEED it is here and it is long overdue. PLEASE HELP.
