Review Details

The Oregon Humane Society is def. one of the top animal shelters in the nation.

Their save rate is impressive, and the care that the animals receive while waiting for a home is top notch. Their adoption rate for cats (86% in 2006) is one of the highest around, and MUCH better than the national average that sits around 20%

For animals that need surgery, there is a dedicated Animal Medical Clinic that is part of the shelter. This is also a great place for veterinary students to really get some experience with the homeless animal population.

OHS has some amazing programs, including Foster Care (where you will find some of the best volunteers on the planet!) and the Second Chance program. Other shelters in the state bring animals that they would otherwise not be able to save, and OHS commits to their care and finds them a home.

Check out their myspace page to see their really cute commercial.

This organization is saving lives, and doing a right good job of it. I'm happy to support them!

Both of my dogs were adopted from OHS, and my two chinchillas (OHS included the spay/neuter in the adoption fee!) were from OHS as well. I love my critters!
