Pros: caring, friendly staff, always take surrenders
Cons: ??
Walking my friends dog I found a tiny stray kitten that had been left for dead. I climbed through about 12 feet of weeds with stickers and pulled the kitten through the fence. It was TINY. The poor little guy was dehydrated and hungry, and wouldn't stop crying. I didn't know what to do, and I thought for sure it might die. I took the kitten to the Butte Humane Society and right away they started working on him. They cleaned him, fed him - and they saved him! I went back about every week to ask how the little one was doing - it was too young for adoption. I wanted the kitty for myself because I had found him - but one day that I came back he had been adopted already. My heart was broken - and the girl who helped me at the shelter said she was sorry and that she wasn't there when someone adopted him. But I was very happy that the little one got a new home - and a chance at life. I want to say thank you to all those you volunteer at the Butte Humane Society - you're amazing! This facility definitely deserves to win the makeover - it's much needed.
Because Butte Humane Society resides in Chico - a college town, I'm sure that college students get a dog or cat, and then realize they can't afford the time or money to take care of it - or most likely can't have a pet in their apartment. I have seen friends have to surrender their pets when it was their last alternative. But never once have I heard of the Butte Humane Society reject an animal that was in need of a home.
Please vote for the Butte Humane Society!!
