Supporting Shelter: BUTTE HUMANE SOCIETY

Pros: Really care about the animals and want them to go to good homes

Cons: Over crowded, cages etc are falling apart.

My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to get a dog. We agreed to adopt, we really wanted to give one of the "pound puppies" a chance. So went to the Butte Humane Society's website and saw a terrier mix that had arrived a day earlier. He was dropped off with his brothers and sisters by a woman who didn't want them anymore.
So the next day we arrive at Butte Humane Society, so excited to meet our addition to our family. But to our surprise he had already been adopted. But thank goodness, becasue that is when we meet Jonesy. He was the brother. And he was precious! We walked up to the cage and locked eyes and that's when my boyfriend and I knew he was the one. He was shy and very protective, but when we would walk away from the cage, he'd look at us with his brown eyes as if to say, "don't go!" That was it. He was coming home.
So we took him home, but a day later he wasn't eating and had diarrhea. Then we received a call from the Butte Humane Society, they told us he probably had Parvo, since his brothers and sisters contracted it. We were so scared, we thought we were going to lose him. The Butte Humane Society told us to bring Jonesy in and they would give him fluids intravenously to help the dehydration. We tookhim a couple of times and along with some anitbiotics from the vet, he survived the Parvo!
We can't thank the Butte Humane Society enough.
Because of their compassion and generosity, our Jonesy made it. That was 3 years ago and seeing Jonesy now you would never know what he went through back then.

My family and I have adopted five animals from the Butte Humane Society. Like this story, we wanted to give shelter animals a chance to have a loving and safe home. Cocoa, a german shorthair/chocolate lab was our first dog we adopted at the shelter. She also came down with parvo. Thank goodness she survived because she became a huge part of our family. Recently, our cat of seventeen years passed away. He was also a Butte Humane Society rescue cat. We surely appreciate everything the caring staff at Butte Humane Society do so that these precious animals can eventually find the perfect home!
