Get a animal here - there are many in need but do not support this group beyond that.
The Animal Foundation is a private non profit trying to run a major city shelter. They refused to listen to anyone and ran it into the ground. After an audit in which they were called the worst shelter in the nation, they just reshuffled the deck, switched around their roles, and continued with their mismanagement. Nothing has changed except now they just put animals down FAST (from 1 day to 7 days). Thus they are now a "clean" facility as a dead dog is not a diseased dog.
On the board are wealthy socialites such as Jane Greenspun Gale (as in Greenspun Media - owns most of the media such as Las Vegas Weekly, Sun Newspaper which is partnered with the Las Vegas Review Journal and all of the local papers.
The new Chairwoman of the board is: Dale Wynn. As in Wynn Casinos. She personally hates pit bulls and feels all should be put down after one attacked her dog.
These are the people watching over the direction of this house of horrors.
These people hold events where they shop such as Armani and Chloe Boutique.
They do not reach out to the average person, except for their annual fundraiser "Best In Show" in which shelter dogs are AUCTIONED to the highest bidder (nice message to the public)
What is sad is the animals are the ones trapped.
DO NOT give them money - It will not be properly accounted for and most likely will go out the back door. I suggest putting money and efforts behind groups like Best Friends in Southern Utah instead.

One of my students parents had a papered lab get out the gate. They looked for him and put posters around the neighborhood. Had to take off work to get into Lied animal shelter on the morning of the third day and the dog had been put to sleep the night before. The city has this shelter under contract I was told so the people who trap ferals and (they don't check for clipped ears) pick up strays for the city take them to Leids. i think they should have to post online the new animals they pick up every day. Reno residents had a huge rebellion against the city and now they have beautiful new location with a Humane process like testing animals when they come into the shelter for disease and only disposing of those animals. They release any ferals with a clipped ear.
