Table Mountain Animal Center is the third largest animal adoption facility in the state of Colorado. We are an open door facility, accepting every animal that comes in the door. We currently operate in an old building, built in 1976 to say our building is falling apart would be understated.
Table Mountain Animal center has added a number of programs in the last few years to better serve the animals and the public. In middle of 2007 we added a mobile veterinary clinic that is capable of doing 30 spay/neuter surgeries a day as well as low cost vaccinations both at the center and throughout the community. checkout the website for details and how to be part of this program.
TMAC also added a dog training and wellness program as part of the ban on specific breeds throughout the metro area. This program called P.H.A.T. (Psychology, Health And Training), gives the more dominant breeds that are the long term residence more socialization and training. The training program is also offered to the public both with an in home training option as well as at the Center. The program is very successful and growing.
The animals that stay at TMAC do not have a time limit. Our daily capacity at the building is approximately 300 animals. This capacity is expanded by a very robust foster program as well as working with three different Petsmart stores and two Petco stores in the area that feature and adopt hundreds of cats annually. This program is run by a very dedicated group of volunteers and allows TMAC to have well over 500 animals in our care during many of the busiest months throughout the year.
In 2007, TMAC was able to achieve a live release rate of 77%, this is a combination of adoption, return to owner and transfer statistics. That is a rate the is above the total average of the Denver Metro Shelter Alliance members. TMAC is working hard daily to return or find every healthy animal a forever home. We can only do this by the growing support of volunteers, donors and adopting public.
