Review Details

once in awhile there is bad press about the underfunded shelters around- for some reason, instead of the community supporting the shelter and funding them enough to fulfill their mission people attack them for not performing miracles on no money. Yes, this shelter used to have dog poop stench, the dogs were always barking loudly and could be heard outside the shelter, vet care was marginal, outside vets would shake their heads and groan when they heard a pet was adopted from there- I adopted a cat with health issues that were unnoticed and uncared for when I got her.

that was in the 1990's.

Instead of condemning the shelter for its shortcomings and sending "reporters" over with their own agenda and writing inflammatory "news" articles, Boulder got its act together and raised funds for a new building, with bigger kennels, cat cages behind glass where we can't even talk to the cats (oh- that was an improvement??), a separate area for rabbits and rodents, decent vet facilities, etc etc. It would be a beautiful thing if Northglenn, Thornton, Adams County, etc got their respective acts together and got behind Mile Hi Humane and did the same, wouldn't it?

But it's easier to condemn them for their efforts, isn't it?
