Review Details

Mile Hi's posting on Craig's List follows. This is not keeping "pets in mind."

"Max-Fund Has A Nearly New Shelter......"
"Date: 2008-02-26, 11:46AM MST"

"Max-Fund has an almost brand new animal care facility so why are they so keen on updating their shelter when there are thousands out their that dont have the resources to update and improve their shelters. I know that personally many have come into the Mile Hi Humane Soceity comparing us to others like Max-Fund and the Adams County Shelter; we just cant compete. Give us a chance and log on to ZooToo.com and help us try to get a makeover which we so desperately need."

Do you have to attack another shelter to get points?

Another Mile Hi's Posting on Craig's List:

Either Way Max-Fund Has All The Help They Need
Date: 2008-02-27, 4:11PM MST

Why not give shelter like the Mile Hi Humane Soceity a chance to win the ZooToo makeover? They dont have the large amounts of money to get their own makeover like max fund did. For them to be in the running for the makeover when they have a practically new shelter is not fair to the shelters that dont have the means to get that type of makeover. Give the little gut a chance. Visit ZooToo.com to earn Mile Hi points to win the makeover that they really need.

This is ridiculous - I have been to Mile Hi many times and they are very nice people. That first post really does sound like it was written from someone who works at Mile Hi, but I hope that it was just one of the many volunteers that spend their time there. :( I'm sure that there is a level of desperation that goes along with knowing that you have almost no chance, but I hope that people don't get too turned off by what some irresponsible person felt they needed to post...
ATTACKS? Stating the obvious is hardly an attack. Geeze people, grow a thicker skin. All the poster was asking is that people compare the needs of each shelter before choosing one to support. wow... whats the world coming to when someone says you have a nice shelter and lots of help, that it's considered an attack. boo hoo.
I agree. Give the little guy a chance. I have called and emailed the news stations to give Mile Hi the same air time as Max Fund received I have heard nothing.
"attacks other shelters" is a little harsh, don't you think? I saw nothing slanderous in the statement posted on Craigslist, just a plea to get help for a shelter that somebody obviously believes in very much. Doesn't it stand to reason that you would want to help fix the shelters that need the most help first? We are all out here for the same cause, to help the animals. Other shelters are not the enemy, it's the people who make the shelters necessary who we should be fighting, and we all DO fight, one stray at a time. I have been to Maxfund and to Mile Hi, and both shelters could use the help, but Mile Hi is in more immediate need of help at the moment. If, rather than slandering Mile Hi by wrongly writing that they "attack other shelters" giving Mile Hi a bad reputation that they DO NOT deserve, you would come down and help out, you'd see what I mean.
How is this attacking the other shelter? I find what they say to be true. they are just asking for help to make their own shelter better. Isn't this contest to help poorer shelters like MHHS get a better shelter. So a shelter that does not need the make over should not try and get one.

Attack may be a little strong but I do find the wording of the Mile Hi post to be a little over the line. Why wouldn't someone want to continue to improve their shelter?

The fact of the matter is that you aren't gauranteed to get the million dollar make over if you end up in the top 20. If this shelter is new and nice, they probably won't be picked. That's why the team will go out and visit all 20 and make the determination.
