A shelter that has pets and people in their best interest
Review Details
The staff their are friendly and knowledgeable. They just never seem to have enough staff or enough help or enough money to make it better. Their hearts are in the right place and i have seen abused dogs and sick dogs puppies come from shelters in new mexico all come and go through there in less than a year. Some dogs stay longer than others but they all find a good home eventually. I have seen them turn away people trying to adopt pitbulls because they were too young and suspected them suspected them of wanting the dogs for dogfighting. I have seen them accept a call form a retirement home looking for a quiet calm dog for the home. I have seen them help people as much as they can to adopt the right pet for them when it was a suitable home for the pet, like staying later hours for them to pick up the animal.
I volunteer there and sometimes there is not even enough leashes and collars for all the volunteers to walk the dogs. This shelter has so much space to become another DDFL and adopt out so many dogs. There is room to make more visiting areas (which they only have one indoor and one outdoor). There sewage system clogs and the heater sometimes goes out. there is pools of water in places and little sunlight gets into the dogs on the north side.
they wantt o make it better but lack the funding. that is why i hope that you take a look at this shelter and see that they need this makeover very bad.
