Review Details

I understand no kill may sound like a good idea but theres a line. you cannot keep a dog somewhere for its life if it is unadoptable. working in a shelter for two years i know that there comes a time when a dog needs to be put down. it is very unhealthy on the animal.

What determines unadoptable?
Unfortunately it can be a bit of a grey area. For some shelters it is a dog grownling, or having health issues that exceed a certain amount.
If it is in the humane interest of hte animal, the animal needs to be euthanized, but I haven't found an animal yet that is truly unadoptable. SOmet ake longer then others, but they find their perfect home.

Most people would think Cassie is unadoptable. As a kitten, she was attacked at four weeks old. She still has a ripped open tear duct. One eye is larger and higher than the other. Her face is a bit bashed in which makes her chin stick out (ala Jay Leno). Due to the open tear duct, her ears require ongoing maintenance. She has an almost useless leg, except it does keep her balanced. She was extremely shy when I adopted her. She had spent two years at MaxFund. You're right. No one BUT *I* wanted to adopt her, but it took me two years to find her. Not a single other person asked about her during those two years. I am very glad that MaxFund found that she had some worth because she's worth everything in the world to me, the way she cheers me up with her purring, her antics, her sweet disposition...and her courage and perseverance. She did nothing to deserve what happened to her and certainly doesn't deserve being trashed. Neither does MaxFund. They did a good thing. They did the right thing. It's too bad that they can't help more animals in the very same way.

I'm sorry, but using the no-kill thing as a "con" sounds like am extremely flimsy excuse for giving us a 1 star rating. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion, but how is this helping the animals?
