Pros: Charity Navigator 4 star (highest) rating
Cons: we need a sanctuary
I drive from Boulder to Denver to volunteer at Maxfund "the shelter with soul" as I call it. I am also a "foster parent" for animals there. Here's a few reasons why Maxfund is the MOST deserving of winning this makeover contest:
- Maxfund takes in animals (with no known owners) who have been injured and foots the bill for their health care and rehabilitation.
- Maxfund is a no-kill shelter.
- As often as possible, Maxfund feeds their animals high quality, healthy food.
Due to the above, Maxfund has MUCH higher costs than the average shelter. And yet, Maxfund has maintained the HIGHEST rating on Charity Navigator for 3 consectutive years. Charity Navigator rates the financial health of charities, and states that only 12% of charities earn a 4 star rating for 2 consecutive years.
Maxfund does the MOST for their animals while spending the LEAST amount of their funds on frivolities, and their commitment to their animals is LIFELONG.
Maxfund deserves to win!
