Review Details

I have been volunteering at the Austin Humane Society for over two years now and I must say as a teenager it really is very fun and interesting!!! I meet new people and I get to spend time with the most important thing in my life DOGS! I love them and the ASH makes sure that they are taken care of and most of all LOVED! There is a little spot inside where you can go and spend time one on one with the dog and you can sit on the couch and rub their belly and brush their hair so its nice and beautiful or you can get a toy and play with them. But what I love to do is to just lie on the couch and cuddle with the dogs. Each volunteer goes through an orientation and then they come back and have a one on one with a staff member and a dog or cat. Here they learn how to act around the animal and what to do when they jump or don’t listen. During the orientation part of the program there is a dog brought in and a staff member shows you how to hold and pet them and how to play with them and toys. All in all, the ASH is one of the most dedicated shelters that REALLY TRULY cares about the animals!!! And that’s why I chose to volunteer there!
