Review Details

VAP has very few volunteers considering the number of animals they are expected to take in and the size of the community they serve. VAP's volunteers work extremely hard and many of them give up every bit of their personal lives to care for these animals. Despite this, the volunteers are often treated poorly by people in the community who are too irresponsible to care for their own pets. Everyone wants the pet they are too lazy to take care for themselves to go to a no kill shelter, but these people don't understand that VAP can only properly care a limited number of animals with the limited amount of funding, volunteers, and community involvement they receive. VAP can only take in as many animals as they adopt out. Space is limited and so are funds! Most of our volunteers work full-time as well as put in anywhere from 20-40 hours per week caring for the animals. Some of our volunteers manage to be full-time college students or mothers of young children in addition to all of this! Yet people get irate when we have to tell them we cannot take in an animal.
