Supporting Shelter: Humane Society of Cherokee County
Supporting Rescue: Pug Rescue of NW Arkansas
Pros: The volunteers try so hard!
Cons: Not enough man power to help save all the homeless animals.
We got associated with the HSCC over six-years ago as a community service project when there was no shelter to speak of. Each one of the volunteers tries so hard to assist in the fundraisers that are so needed to keep the shelter going. The community education level has been a goal to inform and work with the spay and neuter program. Each of us has a dream of it being a no kill shelter and hopes of all the homeless animals may have a chance in finding the right family. It is heart breaking to see animals thrown by the roadside and slaughtered by cars due to the neglect of the community not supporting a mandatory spay and neuter program. The efforts each volunteer plays helps save the future of this program. With the economy sagging, money is needed to help with those that have come to grips with needing food or supplies for a family pet. Our efforts have been greatly appreciated in food and supply drives to meet the community demands asked of the shelter. Efforts to bring in new membership as well as recruit volunteers is always a task that is endless. Each of us is a visionary seeking to make our shelter the best for those so deserving, after all, it is our job to speak for those who cannot. This shelter has a high community demand on it as well as a need.
