Supporting Shelter: West Plains Regional Animal Shelter
Pros: dedicated staff and volunteers of this no-kill shelter effort ( I wouldn't want to be involved with any other!).
Cons: negatives, I can't think of any; needs, there's always a need for more financing, support, and community involvement
With politics in the news so much lately, I'm reminded of the speech President Kennedy once gave many years ago, in which he encouraged America's citizens to ask themselves not so much what their country could do for them, but rather what each one might do for their country. That call to service and the broken "Camelot" that followed ushered in a time of young people and a nation determined not to let hope die as they took hold of the future by taking action, taking a stand for what inspired them, and taking out with vigor in the journey of life. The journey from then to now has been fraught with difficulty, and the dreams have taken some beatings along the way, but the dreamers and the dream does live on in all so many of us.
At WPRAS and Out of Harms Way Thrift Store, a dream is alive and well - a dream for animals to be cared for lovingly and valued as the unique and precious animals they are, a dream for animals to have a place of safety and of goodness, with every hope in their little hearts for a bright future in the wide world beyond its doors.
This is my review of West Plains Regional Animal Shelter, this is what I think about and believe in when I spend time volunteering here. Every manner of great goodness is going on in this place, for animals and for the people who enter these doors. Our time will be what we make of it. I can't think of another way I'd rather spend my time than in the company of animals and animal lovers. May God forever bless those who enter here.
