Review Details
Winnebago County Animals Services is a great place. The shelter is clean. The volunteers really help make it inviting and they help the animals a lot. The price of adoption is reasonable and for all that you get with each animal: rabies tag, microchip, spay/neuter, etc., it's really a great deal for the price. You would pay more if you got a free dog/cat and then had to go to the vet and do all that stuff.
The shelter has enough space for housing the animals but is lacking space for other things, such as a separate room that the kennel staff can do temperment testing. Right now it's done in the exam room and there is too much traffic in there.
The addition of the spay/neuter clinic is great and I think that it's wonderful that now all the animals are getting spayed/neutered before getting adopted. That was really important but more improvements need to be made to make this an even better place.
