Review Details
Shortly after we moved from Chicago to just over the Wisconsin border, we were contacted by a volunteer from South Suburban regarding a St. Bernard that had been abandoned at the shelter and time was running out for her. Knowing that I have a soft touch, they thought that since we had acreage it would be a great home for her to have running/roaming room. Because she was so big and too much dog for the average suburban/urban home, they had had no one come in to adopt her and would have to put her down unless we could open our hearts. Of course, we didn't say no and drove the 3 1/2 hours from Wisconsin down to Chicago Heights, IL to pick her up. She was the love of my husband's life and we just lost her last year at the old age of 13 years.
