I have discussed at length the operations of this rescue with its owner and can honestly say that he is in it for the love and welfare of the birds and spares no expense. he has many dedicated volunteers and well established adoption procedures. they feed the birds a mixture of 8-10 types of pellets and cages are cleaned daily. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about birds and the volunteers are well trained.

my only issue is that it is almost too hard to adopt a bird from the place. I understand the reasons for wanting to have such high standards for adopting families, but I think that only adopting to "perfect" candidates is the wrong way to do things. A rescue is not the ideal environment for a bird, especially birds who need a lot of individual attention like cockatoos. I think that at some point compromises need to be made because a bird will be much better off at a slightly less than perfect home than it will be at a top notch rescue with more than 50 large birds.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying you should adopt to anyone who wants a bird, but just because someone used to breed dogs, but otherwise would be able to provide a wonderful home for a bird shouldn't disqualify them from being able to adopt.
