Supporting Shelter: Humane Society of Barron County

Pros: great people, variety of animals, easy to volunteer

Cons: too far away

As my children were growing up, this shelter was a favorite place to go. We would play with the kittens, walk the dogs, foster animals, bring in animals that we found, and help with the fundraisers. We adopted pets from this shelter. the shelter was great at making sure that anyone adopting was the proper placement. We went through a small interview to make sure we were a good match.
The shelter had a great program for volunteers where my daughter loved to put in the hours.
The fundraisers were very creative and we tried to be involved with many including going to "Jail".
Now my kids are grown and it seems I don't get there very much. It is a distance. but I try to support them as I can. I started bringing our Kinskid to visit. He loved it! The staff was great for letting us explore.
The shelter is also great for bringing in animals that we have been abandoned and we can't find homes for them. Sometimes I feel we have brought more animals in than adopted!!

I am glad to be part of this shelter and only wish that all communities could have a place like this to help the animals.

Keep up the good work!!
