Supporting Shelter: Lakeland Animal Welfare Society

Pros: Wonderful people that truly care about placing you with the perfect animal

Cons: They have out grown the facility but are working on building a larger shelter

I think the people are great, I was greeted with a smile and was given all the attention and help that I needed. The animals were great and the facility seemed very clean. I will continue to adopt all my animals from this location as well as advise others to do the same.

For one, I have gone there on countless occasion's and seen that the dog(s) were dirty and were in need of a bath. They are also a bit weird when it comes to their adoption they wouldn't let me adopt a male dog because I had 1 female cat at home that was not spayed. Come on now do you really think a dog can breed with a cat. Plus the dog was to be neutered anyways. What was the point of that?

I myself have had run-ins with the shelter. I've had numerous stray dogs show up on my front porch, so when I try to do the right thing and call the shelter to come retrieve the animal they give you the 3rd degree accusing you of trying to get rid of your own dog....I've even had them try to charge me. Once I called to have a dog picked up and when they realized I had dogs they tried to convince me that they needed to come in and look at them. Needless to say I refuse to call them anymore for animal pick-up....I call the police instead.
