Imagine a little girl going out to play in the snow...Now imagine a 125 lb black lab limping right past her throught the front yard. That was me 15 years ago. I ran into the house and yelled for my parents to come help. My mom looked at me and said "Honey, don't ever do this!" She then picked up the injured dog and carried him into the garage. By this time my dad had laid down blankets for her to lay the dog on. We covered the dog and went in the house to call our local Humane Society which was in Washington County. A little time later an employee arrived at our house with a doggie stretcher and loaded the animal into her car. My parents continued to call the center each day to check on the status of the dog, which by that time had been named Magnum. Later that week we saw a news story about a rescued dog with a shattered hip, they were trying to raise money to perform surgery. We continued to follow the progress of the animal for the next few months during which time they decided that the leg was too badly injured to preform surgery. Everytime we went out to the Jackson area to visit my Grandparents, we would stop to visit Magnum. He wasn't a normal patient at the center, he stayed in the office to keep the employee's company, and was also put out on a leash in the front to greet the visitors. So imagine my surprise when I was brought home from basketball practice to find not just two dogs in the yard but a big black lab as well. I was so excited to see that my parents had finally brought him home to the yard where we found him!
Sincerly,
Karen

Hurray for your parents - they showed by example what it means to care for those in need. I'm so glad you ended up with Magnum in your back yard!
